Will Brown will continue his Virgin Australia Supercars Championship campaign as an Erebus Motorsport co-driver in this year’s Pirtek Enduro Cup.
Erebus Motorsport came into existence in 2011 with ambitions for world domination. By world domination, we mean Team Owner Betty Klimenko set her sights on succeeding in the fast world of motorsport. With a number of accomplishments in GT’s under her belt, both on home soil and internationally, there were no plans in stopping there. 2013 saw Betty take over a Supercars team and rebrand it as her own.
Fast forward to 2015 and a few triumphs later, Penrite Oil were looking for their path into Supercars, and there was no better fit. The lubricant’s company joined the team at Bathurst that year and has never looked back. Erebus moved from Queensland to Melbourne, and over the next season solid foundations were laid. The team recruited, not in quantity, but quality, until it was capable of going toe-to-toe with the biggest names in racing.
2017 saw the team work harder than ever and with rapid and successful car development, the second half of the season cleared Erebus of their “underdog” label before conquering the Bathurst 1000 and becoming the second team in history to win both the Bathurst 12 Hour and Bathurst 1000.
Erebus scored three more wins, five pole positions and multiple podiums on their way to securing fourth in the 2018 Team’s Championship and David fifth in the Driver’s Championship.
In 2019 the team has been re-launched as Penrite Racing and the team is hoping to further capitalise on previous years successes.
