15 April, STORY: PLM
Cars Galore Team BRM driver Will Brown will start Race 1 from the front row, missing pole by a mere nine one hundreths of a second, during qualifying for Round 2 of the CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 championships at Phillip Island.
Brown had earlier been fastest in morning practice.
Nick Rowe claimed the spot over championship rivals Brown and Jordan Love.
Team BRM’s Brenton Grove was declared ok after a sizeable impact into the tyre bundles during qualifying. Grove received a medical all clear from officials upon returning to the paddock.
After Grove's incident, the green flag returned with three minutes remaining and Rowe, Brown and Love traded times throughout qualifying.
Despite missing by only the narrowest of margins, Brown is confident for the race:
“Pretty exciting qualifying,” Brown said, “we can now work towards Race One and have a couple of good races.”
Rowe said later, “Coming up in the main straight I saw that I had two green boxes, but then I saw Brownie had a red and a green and I was like ‘Oh this is going to be tight’, but we were able to hold them enough.”
Race 1 takes place on Saturday at 10:50am AEST, and Race Two at 2:05pm.
All races are broadcast Live on Fox Sports TV
