Cars Galore BRM driver Will Brown will have his eyes firmly on the prize this weekend as he goes for championship glory in the Australian F4 Championships on the streets of the Gold Coast.

October 19, 2016

After starting the year in April at Tasmania’s Symmons Plains, the CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship arrives to its final round of the 2016 season around the narrow streets of the Gold Coast.

Supporting the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship, three races await our field of drivers. Championship leader Will Brown (Team BRM/Cars Galore) has a 35-point gap ahead of his nearest rival Nick Rowe (AGI Sport/SCT Logistics), with Jordan Love (Team BRM/TFS) 43 points behind Brown and only 8 points behind Rowe.

Out of the three championship protagonists, Brown is the only driver to have experienced the streets of the Gold Coast aboard an Australian Formula 4 car.

Friday will be a busy day for our teams, with the U Race It Pole Position followed by a marathon 18 lap race. Two more 11 lap races will take place on Saturday and Sunday.

Sunday evening will see a new champion crowned as the CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship celebrates the year at its end of year dinner on the Gold Coast.

Another Championship Battle

In the Burson Auto Parts Rookie of the Year standings, Josh Denton (Team BRM) has a 16-point lead over Jack Smith (AGI Sport/SCT Logistics) and is a further 26 points ahead of Simon Fallon (DREAM Motorsport/CoolDrive) and Tyler Everingham (JRD/Sidchrome) – with Fallon and Everingham presently tied on 93 points each.

Denton clinched his first race win of the year in Race Two at the previous round at Sandown Raceway.

Marked by the yellow number plate aboard a car in 2016, a rookie must be 18 years of age – or younger – at the start of the year; and must not have competed in more than three motor races, including national and international circuit events prior to the start of the season.

Last year’s Burson Auto Parts Rookie of the Year was coincidentally Will Brown, who also finished third in the overall standings last season.
